ABOUT US

The Dinkery Pickleball Club first popped up in March 2022 as an open play opportunity for the people of Charlotte, North Carolina

Pickleball... But More Personal

Our mission is to promote the growth of pickleball as a recreational and competitive sport while keeping it an inclusive and fun activity for all ages and levels. We strive to provide opportunities to play, learn and compete in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

We play pickleball, yes. But we specialize in creating an atmosphere of fun and excitement. We make sure each player is matched to their level of play, has a positive experience and that our players are comprised of people who care about everyone having a great time.

About Us

The Dinkery Pickleball Club is a Non- exclusive club that welcomes players of all skill levels to join. Whether you are a core player, sharpening your skills, a casual player, seeking social play, or a newbie learning the game, we have a place for you at The Dinkery.

Our club is unique because our facility is the public courts of Charlotte. We organize and grow pickleball programs through our partnership with Mecklenburg County public parks system. This means that anyone can join!

College tennis doubles partners that found something even better…

Yeah tennis is fun but when we found the sport of pickleball our lives changed. When we wanted to play, no one knew what it was. The ones that did know thought it was dumb and wouldn’t play.

How do we make pickleball cool?? That’s what we kept asking ourselves.

We started with the name and plan to get all the people in Charlotte to play. We partnered with Charlotte City Tennis to use their tennis courts for pop-up pickleball 1 time a week. We would call it “Sunday’s at The Dinkery”.

On March 6, 2022 Our first day we had over 40 people out on pickleball courts that didn’t yet exist.  Since then, the county has built 12 dedicated courts in Charlotte, NC and the courts are getting a lot of action.

We had free paddles, balls, taped courts, refreshments, prizes, merch, and most importantly, music. What’s a party without music?

We have been building the program since then. We have put on over 100 drop-ins, clinics, events and tournaments since opening day. We are excited to share the sport with even more people.
